1980. McGraw–Hill Ryerson publishes My Dear Mr. M: Letters to G.B. MacMillan from L.M. Montgomery, edited by Francis W.P. Bolger and Elizabeth R. Epperly.

1985. Oxford University Press publishes The Selected Journals of L.M. Montgomery, Volume 1: 1889–1910, edited by Mary Rubio and Elizabeth Waterston, in November; the television miniseries Anne of Green Gables, directed by Kevin Sullivan, premieres on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in December.

1987. Kevin Sullivan’s television miniseries Anne of Green Gables: The Sequel premieres on the Disney Channel (as Anne of Avonlea: The Continuing Story of Anne of Green Gables) in May and on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in December; Oxford University Press publishes The Selected Journals of L.M. Montgomery, Volume 2: 1910–1921, edited by Mary Rubio and Elizabeth Waterston, in October; Fitzhenry and Whiteside publishes The Poetry of Lucy Maud Montgomery, selected by John Ferns and Kevin McCabe, in October.

2008. The one-hundred-year anniversary of the publication of Anne of Green Gables prompts a worldwide celebration. Cambridge Scholars Publishing publishes the collection of essays Storm and Dissonance: L.M. Montgomery and Conflict, edited by Jean Mitchell. Penguin Canada publishes Budge Wilson’s novel Before Green Gables and Elizabeth Rollins Epperly’s book-length study Imagining Anne: The Island Scrapbooks of L.M. Montgomery, as part of its 100 Years of Anne campaign, in February. Key Porter Books publishes Irene Gammel’s book-length study Looking for Anne: How Lucy Maud Montgomery Dreamed Up a Literary Classic in April and Kevin Sullivan’s novelization Anne of Green Gables: A New Beginning in October. Oxford University Press publishes Elizabeth Waterston’s book-length study Magic Island: The Fictions of L.M. Montgomery in June. In September, Montgomery’s granddaughter Kate Macdonald Butler publishes an article in the Globe and Mail revealing her family’s belief that Montgomery’s death in 1942 had been a suicide. Doubleday Canada publishes Mary Henley Rubio’s biography Lucy Maud Montgomery: The Gift of Wings in October. The telefilm Anne of Green Gables: A New Beginning, directed by Kevin Sullivan, premieres on CTV in December.

2009. A biography of Montgomery by Jane Urquhart is published in September by Penguin Canada as part of the Extraordinary Canadians series. L.M. Montgomery’s final book The Blythes Are Quoted, reportedly delivered to her publisher the day of her death in 1942, is published in its entirety for the first time in October; the volume is edited by Benjamin Lefebvre and published by Viking Canada.

2010. The collection of essays Anne’s World: A New Century of Anne of Green Gables, edited by Irene Gammel and Benjamin Lefebvre, is published in June by University of Toronto Press. A restored and annotated edition of Rilla of Ingleside, edited by Benjamin Lefebvre and Andrea McKenzie, is published in November by Viking Canada.

2012. The Complete Journals of L.M. Montgomery: The PEI Years, 1889–1900, edited by Mary Henley Rubio and Elizabeth Hillman Waterston, is published in June by Oxford University Press; a follow-up volume, subtitled The PEI Years, 1901–1911, follows in February 2013.

2013. Oxford University Press publishes The Complete Journals of L.M. Montgomery: The PEI Years, 1901–1911, edited by Mary Henley Rubio and Elizabeth Hillman Waterston, in February. McGill–Queen’s University Press publishes the collection of essays Anne around the World: L.M. Montgomery and Her Classic, edited by Jane Ledwell and Jean Mitchell, in June. University of Toronto Press publishes the critical anthology The L.M. Montgomery Reader, Volume 1: A Life in Print, edited by Benjamin Lefebvre, in December.

2014. University of Toronto Press republishes Elizabeth Rollins Epperly’s book-length study The Fragrance of Sweet-Grass: L.M. Montgomery’s Heroines and the Pursuit of Romance, with a new preface, in April. UTP publishes The L.M. Montgomery Reader, Volume 2: A Critical Heritage, edited by Benjamin Lefebvre, in May. The L.M. Montgomery Institute of the University of Prince Edward Island hosts the international conference L.M. Montgomery and War in June.
