Malcolm and the Baby

Malcolm and the Baby is episode nine of the first season of the Sullivan Entertainment long-form television series Road to Avonlea (1990–1996) and episode 9 overall. It first aired on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation on 4 March 1990 and on the Disney Channel on 9 April 1990. It was written by Heather Conkie and directed by Harvey Frost. It was preceded by “Aunt Abigail’s Beau” and followed by “Felicity’s Challenge.”

This episode stars series regulars Sarah Polley (Sara Stanley), Jackie Burroughs (Hetty King), Gema Zamprogna (Felicity King), and Mag Ruffman (Olivia King); absent from this episode are series regulars Lally Cadeau (Janet King), Cedric Smith (Alec King), and Zachary Bennett (Felix King). Guest stars include Malcolm Stoddard (Malcolm MacEwan), Rosemary Dunsmore (Aunt Abigail), Patricia Hamilton (Rachel Lynde), and Paul Haddad (Mr. Simpkin).

A novelization by Heather Conkie, as volume 8 of the Road to Avonlea book series, was published in Canada in 1991 and the United States in 1992.
