Around the Table

Around the Table is a newspaper column that L.M. Montgomery published, under the pseudonym “Cynthia,” in the Halifax Daily Echo. It appeared in thirty-five instalments (the first entitled “Over the Tea Cups”) between 28 September 1901 and 26 May 1902; twenty-three of these instalments were then republished in the Halifax Morning Chronicle. This column, which Montgomery referred to in her journal as “fun, fashions, fads, fancies,” appears in its entirety for the first time in A Name for Herself: Selected Writings, 1891–1917.
