Today’s L.M. Montgomery ad appeared in The Boston Herald in September 1909 to coincide with the publication of her second novel, Anne of Avonlea. Note that it offers no details about plot except that it’s a sequel to Anne of Green Gables.

I have this book with the original cover. It was purchased in the early ’50s and cost $2.50. It is a much loved treasure.
Is your edition from L.C. Page or from a different company? I’m curious because Page licensed reprint editions of his Montgomery books to other publishers, which used the same cover and the same plates, even while his company continued to reprint them.
Mine is L.C. Page & Co.
Does it say which printing your copy is? You’ll find that on the copyright page near the front of the book. Montgomery’s later publishers, McClelland and Stewart (in Canada) and Frederick A. Stokes Company (in the USA) didn’t list printings or date them, so sometimes you have to make a wild guess, but Page always did.
It says 53rd impression, 1948. All new and interesting to me.
