This edition restores the complete text of the original 1921 edition. It supplements that text with an introduction, maps of Europe, two poems, and a detailed glossary, to help place Montgomery’s text within its historical, cultural, and biographical contexts. An identical trade paperback edition by Penguin Canada followed in 2011.

A Note on the Text

This edition of Rilla of Ingleside restores the complete text of the original 1921 edition and makes three handwritten corrections found in L.M. Montgomery’s personal copy of the novel.

A Note on the Text

Although it features the same cover as an earlier Penguin Classics hardcover edition published in 2006, this edition includes a reset text (that used in the 100 Years of Anne edition published in 2008) and omits the supplementary materials by Lisa Moore.
