Out of the Ashes is episode one of the seventh season of the Sullivan Entertainment long-form television series Road to Avonlea (1990–1996) and episode 79 overall. It first aired on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation on 14 January 1996 (as part of a double header with the subsequent episode, “Love May Be Blind . . . but the Neighbours Ain’t”) and on the Disney Channel on 26 August 1996. It was written by Marlene Matthews and directed by Stefan Scaini. It was preceded by “Homecoming” and followed by “Love May Be Blind . . . but the Neighbours Ain’t.”
This episode stars series regulars Jackie Burroughs (Hetty King), Mag Ruffman (Olivia Dale), Zachary Bennett (Felix King), Lally Cadeau (Janet King), and Cedric Smith (Alec King). Guest stars include Gema Zamprogna (Felicity King), David Ferry (Stuart McRae), Marilyn Lightstone (Muriel Pettibone), Molly Atkinson (Cecily King), Kay Tremblay (Great Aunt Eliza), Barbara Hamilton (Eulalie Bugle), Andrew Tarbet (Seth Pritchard), and Cara Pifko (Mavis Pritchard).
On the CBC broadcast, Allan King is erroneously credited as director of the episode.
