Overview
In 1895, L.M. Montgomery published two poems (“On the Gulf Shore” and “When the Apple-Blossoms Blow”) and her first short story (“A Baking of Gingersnaps”), all of them using the alternate signatures Maud Eglington [sic] and Maud Cavendish. All three items appeared in The Ladies’ Journal, a Toronto magazine. Unfortunately, a full run of this magazine has not yet been located, so the bibliographical details cannot yet be verified.
