The Blue Castle is L.M. Montgomery’s fifteenth book, first published in September 1926 by McClelland and Stewart (Toronto) and the Frederick A. Stokes Company (New York). It focuses on twenty-nine-year-old Valancy Stirling, who breaks away from her oppressive family when she receives a letter that changes her life. It was preceded by Emily Climbs (1925) and followed by Emily’s Quest (1927).
